Welcome to Rockstar Cheer!
You wanna be a Rockstar?
My story… as told by Coach Scott Foster…
I grew up in the small town (less than 5,000) of Mt. Washington, KY where I learned the value of family and community. I played every sport available from track, tennis, soccer, football, baseball and basketball. I’ve always been a competitive athlete at heart and welcomed the many life lessons that sports taught me. After I graduated high school, I moved to the big city and attended the University of Louisville. I joined the Louisville Cheer squad, as a walk on, where I cheered for 18 months on the JV team. Then, I worked my way up to the Varsity squad where I received a scholarship. I went on to win 3 team National Championships and 1 Partner Stunt National Championship from 1995-1999. While there, I started coaching all-stars in 1996 at the amazing Gym Tyme All-Stars. Those were some of the most special and memorable years of my life. I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and continued towards my Masters. I was fully prepared to join the FBI when I completed my masters, but, life threw it’s curve ball and competitive cheerleading was introduced as a possible career.
I knew I could excel as an FBI agent; but I wanted a career doing something I would love each and every day.
I decided to make a career out of competitive cheerleading and just forget about the 5 years of college education I just went in debt for! What really drove me was working with young people and making a positive impact on their lives. I’m still a very competitive person by nature and coaching provides me that thrill of competition. There is no greater satisfaction than coaching and making a difference in young people’s lives.
I knew that being a coach was my calling to CHANGE LIVES.
I moved to Greenville, South Carolina, in 1999 and have lived here ever since. I began as an All-Star Director at a local all-star gym. In 2000, I met the love of my life, Kathy, and we married in 2001. Then, we created a competition cheerleading company called World Spirit Federation (WSF). We just weren’t satisfied with one job, why not have 2 jobs! We went on to coach and run events until 2006 when I sold WSF to Varsity Brands. Somewhere in the middle of all this chaos we managed to start a family and had 2 daughters. Raising a family and having 2 full time jobs became very tough and is the main reason we sold WSF. Coaching has always been in my heart and I was ready to get back in the gym and do just that—coach!
I felt there was something still MISSING in my life in 2007.
In 2007, I decided to pursue my dream of being a gym owner. Kathy and I knew we create a business and product better than anything that had been seen in our industry. We wanted to build an All-Star program that would have the best facilities, coaches, teams and parents in the country. We weren’t just striving to be the best in our area of South Carolina, we wanted to do something that would be known as one of the best in our industry. We knew there could be a competitive cheerleading gym that could train athletes to be the best they could be while teaching them values, work ethic and life lessons. We wanted Rockstar Cheer to be a family, not just a business. So, we made it happen and opened the doors in September of 2007 to Rockstar Cheer. We started off with 85 customers who believed in our vision and passion. Immediately after opening Rockstar, I knew I had to hire like-minded instructors who shared the same core beliefs and philosophies as us. I knew that to be the best I had to surround myself with the best. At Rockstar Cheer, we believe we have the very best staff from top to bottom. We are thankful for our customers who have stayed with us over the years. We feel blessed for all our new customers who have shown the same faith in us as our returning customers. I will forever be thankful to all the families, friends & staff who supported and helped me through the process. I could not have done it alone.
With a strong drive and passion for children Rockstar Cheer has become the most successful athletic program of its type in South Carolina as it serves as the top competitive cheer program in the area. I started without a back-handspring and today I’m on a level 5 team “The Beatles”. Rockstar has motivated me to push myself, set new goals and achieve my goals. I am happy that I have found a sport that I truly love. I enjoy the classes at Rockstar but most of all I love the amazing friends that I have met from each and every team.
